SONGS ALL COME FROM SOMEWHERE...

Whether the place be in the heart, in dreams, in the memory, or at a location you can point to on

a map, songs connect to all these places. You can find these places by listening to dialect, to accents, to language:

just as clearly, we trace location via the lilt of a fiddle line, the unique rhythm of a balkan dance tune, the stark harmony of a shape-note hymn, the snap and twang of a blues guitar.

Songs of work reveal much of the internal, as well as external geography, of the singer's life and times.
